How Xolair Works
Xolair, an FDA-approved drug, is a breakthrough for individuals aged one and above with food allergies. It significantly reduces the likelihood of severe reactions, such as anaphylaxis, triggered by accidental exposure to different food allergens. Xolairs safety and efficacy in reducing allergic reactions was established through a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial – considered the gold standard in medicine.
In allergic asthma, the immune system goes into overdrive in response to an allergen, producing excessive amounts of a protein known as immunoglobulin E (IgE). Elevated IgE levels can exacerbate asthma symptoms and trigger attacks. Xolair works by inhibiting the binding of IgE to IgE receptors on mast cells and basophils. Xolair functions by blocking the interaction between IgE and IgE receptors located on mast cells and basophils. This inhibition prevents the discharge of histamine and heparin, while also decreasing the quantity of IgE receptors on basophils.

Does XOLAIR Cure Food Allergies
No, XOLAIR is not a cure for food allergies nor can it be used to treat acute reactions.
However, Xolair can greatly diminish the likelihood of individuals with severe food allergies experiencing acute reactions upon ingesting even minute traces of allergens, such as peanuts or eggs in prepared foods, or encountering trace amounts through other means.
To benefit from XOLAIR’s protection you must continuously take the drug. Even then, XOLAIR does not eliminate your risk of food allergies. But it does protect against most severe allergic reactions – specifically those driven by immunoglobulin-E.
